Thrown in Brutalist clay and glazed in Karamea a terracotta tone that means "caramel" in Te red māori.
Tumu means foundation, stump, base, dependable leader and is the name of the main post of a Pā in te reo māori. The weight and structure of the vase speaks to its strong foundation.
