Introducing our new little item the pōtae bowl, a little hat for your mug.
I have heard that one tikanga for steeping rongoa māori is to hold the steam in so that wairua or essence of the plants stay within the brew. This allows your tea to be kept warm while it steeps and produces a little steam sense ritual for you to enjoy.
These are multipurpose little cuties, they work as a lid then when you lift them off, you can use them for your tea bag or tea strainer. They have a little angled footing that works as a mini petastal but also so you can hold onto it securely while lifting. These bowls also are great for jewellery or tiny sides, I'm thinking chilli flakes or Soy.
These are glazed in a straight sided glaze so that they look good over our mug. This bowl is glazed in Pouriuri a dark green satin glaze.
The bowls are around 10.5 cm in diameter and 3cm tall.
Made and designed on Waiheke Island, each pieces is had thrown on the pottery wheel and will differ slightly.
