We are thrilled to host An Astute Assembly's Yuka at Tantalus Estate in their sunny conservatory for a Kintsugi workshop, on Sunday the 25th Aug, you can chose from either session 12-2pm or 4-6pm.

Kintsugi (also known as Kintsukuroi) which loosely translates to 'Golden Joinery' is the age-old Japanese art form of repairing broken ceramics in a way that is often
considered more beautiful than when it was when whole. This ancient technique is a
true celebration of 'Wabi Sabi', the aesthetic appreciation of the broken, old or disregarded.

The workshop ticket will include all materials needed to fix your chosen pottery piece, tutoring, a glass of Tantalus Estate wine of your choosing and a cheese board.

During the workshop you will be guided through simple step by step instructions on how to piece back together your broken ceramics with lacquer and golden powder.

You can bring a broken pottery piece, if this is your first time doing Kintsugi please chose a piece that isn't too complicated, 2-4 brakes is advised, your piece can have chips and missing pieces, this is a great opportunity to bring sad pieces you have put away back to life.

We will be holding the workshops in Tantalus Estates conservatory to make the most of the winer sun and stunning garden views, additional wine sales will be available on the day and Alibi (down stairs) will be open all day for food and other offerings, before or after the workshop, book is advised and not part of the ticket price.

This is looking to be a wonderful event and we are excited for a day of fixing, learning, wine and cheese in a stunning location. There are limited spaces with only two session.

An Astute Assembly will have "take home" kintsugi kits for sale, if you would like to carry on your skills at home.

Tantalus Estate is on Waiheke Island and is a 30 miniute bus ride or 15 min taxi from the ferry, the ferry from Auckland takes 35 minutes and bus or taxi and ferry tickets are not included in the price.

Once you have purchased your "ticket" you will receive a confirmation of "order" email from Thea ceramics, we will then email you closer to the event with more information.

look forward in seeing you there.
